SWZ down?

Recommended Posts

No offense to the current staff...

We really need people in power that have nothing better to do with their lives. The thing that I always admired about games like City of Villains and Final Fantasy XI Online was that the GMs were always there. If there was any sort of problem or any sort of quarrel about anything, you could always just call a GM to handle it. We need a sysop that can be in the zone more often I'd say. Not to take mackie out of his position, but someone that could work beside him? CH and CC didn't do crap when TC was handing everything. I don't see the problem in having more than 1 sysop as long as the communication is handled well. There needs to be more smods, more mods, take the damn bot out and put the freq rules back. Have the sysops watch the smods, the smods watch the mods, people train people, make friends. The bot killed another means of interpersonal relationships. If it was up to me, I'd be working on it already.

In response to Quick*, you my no means hold a monopoly on virture. Neither does any player in this game. I've been here long enough to know that everyone is going to do something that others consider lame. My squad has won their fair share of games, my squad has lost their fair share as well. But what you neglect to mention is that my guys have built the games they win by playing when most the rest of the world is sitting in spec or absent altogether. Whether you want to admit it or not, these two new squads you frown upon are what is keeping this zone from being completely dead most of the time. Who else do you think is playing when the population is below 10? Who else is playing in the center for hours when its only 2v2? Who else is building up the jackpots?

haha yes you guys are the only ones left, that is why i said you are making up the majority of the zone.

but against your point saying "your guys" worked for their points, please, they may win the occational games throughout the day when there are like 5 ppl playing, i am saying when the big games come, it ends up that (to name names for instance) that cajun man has won two large games just by running and hiding. the funniest part bout it is that once he acquired all 15 flags, everyone knew he was going to win it, we have all grown to deal with the lameness that is involved with many of the new players.

so as i said before, learn to play well. you won't get there by winning stupid lame 15 min games in the mid day, set it up grab all flags but 1 make a game that will last, then you will learn to get better.

all i see is the same old tactics run by the same players. they either accumulate 1000's of bty and run to hide the moment a skilled player enters, they grab all 15 flags and run endlessly till the end, or the simply play the same old way they always have, cause "they can get kills", well a kill is a kill i will give ya that, but if you don't learn to not vulch and such then you will not get any better.

u all need to learn.

again i am n ot speaking for all defrost's and DP's but the majority (they know who they are).

Quick*

Jesster and Boing do not make the majority of Dead^Poets. Cajun does not make the majority of Defrost. Every squad has someone who is going to point whore, don't confuse that person with the rest of the squad. As stated in my previous arguments, bring back a map that is decent for the pop. Small maps force these players to at least wait until more people are playing before they can win, and they force these players to earn their jackpots through many deaths and kills (i.e. skill). Get rid of the safe in center and bounty saving, make the bty whores fight hard to increase their precious bounty.

Just a thought... In my opinion it shouldn't matter what anyone says or does. Who cares about who is mature and who isn't. This is a game, games are supposed to be fun. Immature=young kids, young kids=what this zone needs.

Server needs a restart? There should be a bunch of people that can do it, I'm not so sure anymore. Hope it comes back up soon though.

QUOTE (TC Dark Reign @ Dec 11 2005, 06:38 PM)
How arrogant can you get? You make it sound like you're doing us all a favor by keeping the zone functioning, when in fact that IS your responsibility, one you've barely been able to maintain. I think more thanks goes to Junky who was there to bring up the zone when you weren't, or so I've heard. And even if not, all I see you do when you are online is take credit for things you've had nothing to do with. You really think your spontaneous setting changes are improving the population? Hardly. The credit goes to your new staff members levi, justi and skippy? who's positions I have yet to figure out because you could care less to make an announcement about it. They're the one doing the prizing and running events. All you do is come into spec and take the credit for what they are doing.

Oh, my God. TCDR, I've never really had a problem with you until lately. You're obviously bitter about someone else running the zone. And you're being an utter assbag.

Flames and bitching never accomplish anything. When people did things like you now do (flaming the sysop on the public boards, for example) you would get pissed off and talk about how stupid it is and how if they had anything to say, it didn't need to be said in public. I suggest you take your own advice. Nothing positive can come from that sort of childish finger-pointing and name-calling.

The truth is that SWZ has had a ridiculously low population for about the past 3 years or so. No matter who was in charge. Other zones are more popular and the in-fighting amongst the staff (which is only continued by garbage like flaming them on public boards) has been the main reason for the low pop. Now that the staff is comprised of people who actually get along and are actually trying to get something done, all people such as yourself can do is talk about how bad they're doing.

And you know as well as anyone that a sysop's job is 99% behind the scenes, not out in the open. So I think it is not only a low-blow to make that sort of accusation about any sysop, but it's just ignorant considering you personally know the situation.

In layman's terms TCDR, just chill the fuck out. Please. We don't need more shit-heads out there making everyone's job harder than it already is. Thanks. Have a nice day.

Problem is...none of the SSCX ops have passwords that work anymore. If another zone goes down, that zone is in the same boat we are. I'm still working on it though.

Clint, you suck. And i completely understand TCDR. He still cares alot about the zone and gets frustrated about the fact that mackie is not doing anything then staying "behind the scenes" while taking credit for things he hasn't done. Instead TCDR wants to see that credit goes to those others who make it all possible.

Like you mentioned, swz has a low population. And a sysop who's staying behind the scenes with such a dramatic lowpoint is fucked up.

So... BEHIND THE SCENES MY ASS!!! There's NOTHING to be done BEHIND THE SCENES. God, you're stupid. In this situation you have to communicate well with your playerbase, even when a zone is very crowded it's needed.

ROFL, you were for sure very good at staying behind the scenes.

In my opinion i think it's good if swz stay's down. But i know that some people here still like swz alot. So i wish for them it goes up again...

You're obviously the utter assbag. To make a connection like that says something about the person you are.

I know there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes, but what's more important is what goes on in front of anyone else. What I see is a sysop who takes all credit for everything that goes does go right when the thanks should go to those who deserve the credit instead. As a leader of the zone, of course mackie would deserve credit for organizing a staff capable of handling the zone, but a good leader wouldn't give himself credit, but would give the credit to this staff. Coming into the zone and attributing the small transient increase in population to insignificant setting changes undermines the effort of the other staff such as Levi who actually are around and running events. Especially when it has been established that setting changes won't fix our population problem. Having a more active staff to run events, more communication between staff and the public, and a population with a more positive attitude will. One of the major reasons I was upset is that because new mods were hired, but nothing about them was mentioned in the news.txt or on the website. If I was one of those mods, that would make me feel as if my presence wasn't valued and that would impact on how I perform.

As for myself, I recognize I may not have been the greatest leader, my biggest neglect being how I handled the staff internally, but I do think I dealt with the population better. For instance, if the zone were to go offline, I wouldn't leave the population in the dark for days. Mackie may be doing well internally, but what about how he deals with the public? I understand that you're busy, but why should the zone suffer for your lack of communication or absence?

And clint, I'm not bitter that mackie is running the zone. If you recall, I was sysop before and the only reason mackie has it now is because I stepped down, and in that respect, he has become bitter towards me. I stepped down because I knew I was going to become too busy with my last year of school and my upcoming residency, and I didn't want the zone to suffer again from yet another inactive sysop...so much for that.

As for the flaming, you're right. I should have made it less personal.

O wow, so much love floating around swz right now. Even though I haven't accomplish anything in the past, or done anything dramatic to have a voice on these forums. But I do have something so say. Modding for swz isn't so bad and yes the population of course after swzl was coming to a close has been one of the worst I've seen in swz history. I really don't blame anyone for that fact that swz has such a low population. I blame it on all the new rpg games and hot consoles coming out lately. Soon the PS3 will own us all, REMEMBER SONY HAS YOUR SOUL!!!!!!!!!! NOT MICROSOFT OKAY?! DOWN WITH XBOX-360! UP WITH PLAYSTATIONYOURMOMANDGIRLFRIENDOUT 3. But on a serious term. What makes swz itself so unique is our shipsets and setup. Seriously, everyone our learning curve isn't newbie friendly. Everyone knows that we do not kill anyone with one hit O.o and that turns the noobies off for some reason. I say make swzl next week! and that should bring alot of attention back into swz!! SWZL > SWZ WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, o well that's my Rice for the year. No more posting for me.

When I started this thread, this isn't what I intended to happen, but I guess there was some stuff brewing that was going to come out one way or another...

I'll limit what I say here because I haven't been around for over a year and that wasn't my first year-long absence, so I still consider myself a newbie even though I've played SWZ off and on since the days that CH was sysop...

I will say that while SWZ's population is indeed the lowest I've ever seen it, it's still at playable levels. At prime time I've seen some good flag games get going in the past few weeks. I think this makes it worth keeping up.

I'll also say I appreciate Mackie informing us as to what the current zone-down problem is, and letting us know he's working on it. Due to my extended absence I don't feel qualified at the moment to comment one way or another on the overall administration of the zone. I do feel the current settings are all right, though a new map would be nice.

I'll also say I wish Mom was here.
