I am not one to praise Baby Bush, but I don't think we're quite into Fascism just yet.

The two prime examples of Fascism are Hitler and Mussolini. Both were despots, tyrants, dictators. True, Hitler was 'elected' in a 'democratic' form of government, but that government is nowhere near as powerful as the democracy of the United States. The democracy set up by Madison, Washington, Jefferson, etc. was even more powerful than post WW1 Germany's government. Hitler's fascism was a direct result of the weakness of Germany's political system. He dominated his opponents. Baby Bush barely won the election, AND did NOT do ANY OF the extremes that Hitler did.

Secondly, Bush has NOT come out AND said that "Abortion doctors and those who are given abortions are the reason that America is crap." Hitler did NOT attempt TO hide his blatant hatred FOR Jews.

http://www.historywiz.com/reichstag.htm

"...if the international Jewish financiers in and outside Europe should succeed in plunging the nations once more into a world war, then the result will not be the Bolshevizing of the earth, and thus the victory of Jewry, but the annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe!" Adolf Hitler January 30, 1939

AS scarey AS Bush's lack of public speaking ability is, it is nowhere near as terrifying as the words of Hitler. <insert conspiracty theory here> Department of Homeland Security = the SS?

Bush might be the worst president since Calvin Coolidge, but he is not a fascist.

fascism (www.dictionary.com) A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

As it is now, the government of the United States prevents tyranny of the executive. So unless Bush and his lackeys dissolve the House and the Senate, as well as the Supreme Court, he is not a dictator.

Besides, it seems to me that the media is strong bastion of liberal thought.

Anyways, the last president that the US had that came close to dictatorship would be ahem a democrat: Franklin Roosevelt. Bush hasn't tried TO pack the Supreme Court, yet. But maybe he'd try if he needed to.

Btw GL, 1984 is a great book. I'm about TO READ it FOR a class, AND I'm interested in how my views of the book since the last time i read it at age 16. (I'm 22 now.)

No I concede all your points and agree the united states isnt a fascist dictatorship nor will it probably ever be one. It just that on the political spectrum we are drifting dangerously far from our democratic roots towards fascism and socialism (socialism can be good if used in a correct manner... and not the particular flavor of communism that the russians were so fond of for so long... can yah tell im a liberal?smile.gif) I agree with everything youve said:) Just something to think about. We do in fact have all those things in common with nazi germany and fascist italy... and 1984 is freaken awesome:)

"the greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing everyone he didnt exist"

pretending that these things arent happening or downplaying the times that it does is not going make less the fact that they are. america is getting worse faster than any of the seemingly think and i worry that most of us will not realize just how bad things have gotten until they are in a concentration camp or being held hostage in their homes at gunpoint.

dont you guys know about LOYALTY DAY that was proclaimed by george II may he reign forever god save him!

Down with the unloyal!

EAT MORE LIBERTY FRIES!

Bait and Switch Mentalism applied to propoganda:

A. We have to do X although unpleasant because there is a bad guy...

B. Now that A is done, X is about our troops, youre not against the troops... are you??!!

How about the ever growing evidence that 9/11 was engineered ?

How about the Agenda of the NEOCONS rumsfeld and friends?

How about the nazi connection to the bush family, as well as their connections to bin laden and hussein? How about their satanic cult involvement the yale skulls which is founded on germanic Thule society??? Do you even know what the Thule society is?? How about the new world order, the thousand points of light, how about the reference to being born again into the skulls society which requires sleeping in a coffin and passing through the fire.... "if you mean am I a christian, am I born again, then Id say , yes"... how about the involvement of reagans attempted murderer and the bush family... how about the involvement of the bush family and the LSD/CIA connection ... how about being arrested for having KILOS of cocaine in your possession and getting off for community service because your dad is govenor, and 2+ drunk driving convictions and having all these erased from the system....and then getting to be govenor and president? how about supporting the election campaign of the son of a brown shirt austrian nazi to govenor? How about having your brother manipulate votes in a state he is govenor of? How about using the CIA that your family controls to put pressure on the supreme court to make "the right decision"? How about everyone knowing the ellectorial college is a joke that you control? How about introducing the patriot act... another ORWELLIAN tagword that blatantly illustrates the level of imperial propoganda you stand for, and how about tha patriot act RAPING the very tenets of the bill of rights? So how about destroying democracy for us?

IM VERY LOYAL.

MAY 1st is LOYALTY DAY.

LONG LIVE GEORGE II!!!

The sad fact is that we are nearing facism in a democratic and free context. Not facism in the sense of Nazi Germany or Mussolini Italy.

To observer this just watch the news.

Just yesterday, Israel (an american ally) exectued a suspected Hammass leader by droping a bomb from a fighter jet on his house.

Thats summary execution, in direct violation of UN terms.

I don't see the United States OR Britain crying TO the world about UN violations, while WHEN it came TO "suspected" weapon violations ON the part OF Iraq, these nations WHERE up IN arms, without ANY evidence.

This IS a clear tract INTO facism.

Its the beginnings.

ONLY difference, IS that unlike Nazi Germany OR Facist Italy, the United States IS a democracy. President Bush will soon be out OF office, AND WITH that new FOREIGN policy shall emerge WITH a new president.

Best Regards,

MP

Very true. The United States is not lead by a dynasty of Bush's, although the Bush's may try.

GL, I find it hard to believe that 9.11 was orchestrated....but the Spanish-American War started with a staging of the sinking of a vessel...so you never know.

This is why I am not a political science major. :bonk:

You know what.

That idea is out there.

But I would not be overly supprised if that was the case.

Think of the future benefits the US will get from the conquering and establishment of pro us regimes in afgan and iraq. Both nations have huge untapped oil reserves. Only a matter of time before American companies get the contracts, since foreign contracts already under observance have been cancelled.

No....we have the right to bear arms so that:

1. Grandpa Joe can have his gun arsenal.

2. Little Teddy can borrow a few of Grandpa Joe's guns.

3. Little Teddy uses Grandpa Joe's guns to go Basketball Diaries on his High School.

4. *So that the National Rifle Association has something to chat about at their meetings.

too bad you have such a narrow, jaded and uneducated opinion...

i guess they'll win after ALL WITH spineless wimps LIKE you around.

Erm, this is sure out of left field. Do you have grievances with me, my country or both?

Also, I don't understand why you called me spineless because of that post. Was it because my statements led to your assumption that I do not have any weapons?

I guess I missed the point of your post, unless it was sarcastic. Or maybe you just hate America.

I don't necessarily hate my own country, but I don't really love it either.

This new wave of patriotism is a trend. Like SUVs. Like station wagons before it. It isn't really patriotism; its two DISTINCT types.

1. There ARE those who ARE patriotic because they will be harassed if they aren't. (Sikhs, Muslims, and Arabs in general.)

2. There are those who are patriotic because it is popular. Trendy nationalism.

And then there are those who say they are patriotic so they dont have thier lives turned upside down during this new MacCarthyism...

I dont hate America... the land, the country has nothiing to do with the f00ls who run it or the pussies (citizens) who allow the Agenda to continue...

And b4 you get all "But what can I do, Its not MY fault!" ...

Its is your damned fault. If you are an American who isnt writing a letter a day, protesting, demonstrating, or calling your elected official EVERYDAY and telliong them you dont like whats happening.... it IS your own fault. 100%

Agreed 100%, ERR, well almost...

I don't think writing letters, protesting, demonstrating, OR calling anyone will change much OF anything.
